I'm Late, I'm Late. No I am not Pregnant!!!

This month has flown by, except for a skirt and shirt for Hannah I have no sewing projects to show you. Between working alot and being out of town I don't have much to show for October and my blog has been sorely neglected. I am adding a fews pics of how Hannah and I decorated the house for Halloween, one of my favorite Holidays of the year.  I am already thinking of Thanksgiving and my table and the house decorations, how about all of you!!!

For the Cutest Little Girl

Now that summer is over, I am able to complete a project I started when this child was born in April.  I had originally bought this fabric for a dress for my grandaughter, but when Grace was born I knew it would be perfect.  Mom is Chinese and dad is Korean so Grace will have a quilt that has dolls that look like her!! I made the pattern up, it is just simple, and I added the applique hearts using fussy cuts of the fabric.  I even quilted it myself and that is not really my favorite thing!! One of the things when I have made quilts is that I have been negligent adding a tag with my name, but I used a applique heart and signed the quilt.  Now I am going to start some halloween skirts for my etsy store and we will see if they sell.  Happy Fall.......

End of Summer, No it Can't Be!!!

It seems like just yesterday that we got the boat in the water (July).  This year the sailing and weather were great, but it seems that we didn't sail as much as we would have liked, but we never seem to get anywhere as early as we would like.  I am not sure what that is all about, but until I had been married to Bob for about 35 yrs (about 5 yrs ago) I was always sitting around waiting for him and bitchin and moaning.  It became such a fight that by the time we got in the car, albeit late, I was in tears.  I finally decided it was not worth the upset.  I considered not going anywhere (now we know that will not happen), but instead just sort of fell into his bad habits.  Any ideas on how to nip this in the bud??? In any case the boat comes out of the lake tommorrow and back home.  I am pretty ready since we have only been home one weekend since June and you can imagine how my yard looks and the sewing room since I just stuff everything in there when the housekeeper comes.  I need to get organized.  Well have a cocktail and say goodby summer and hello to the holidays!!!
I love fall and the decorating and fun starts October 1!!!!!!!!!

What a great 3 days

Sometimes in your life you meet people that you just click with.  Back in time to 1990, I had just graduated from nursing school and was in the new nurse class at Valley Children's Hospital.  I met a traveling nurse named Mary, who by way of Arizona was in CA so her hubby could go to enology school.  They had one little girl who was 1.  Mary is from Missouri.  We just seemed to click and I learned so much from her about nursing neonatal babies.  My husband and I having 3 sons, love children and offered to babysit for them which we did and also when she had another little girl a year or so later.  In any case Mary moved back to Mo, had 2 more kids and became nurse extraordinaire.  We have been in touch over the yrs, not as much as we should, but as much as we could with busy lives.  It was so exciting when Mary came out to CA last weekend for her dtr's soccer games.  We had almost 2 whole days to catch up and we had such a great time, lots of talk, laughing, good meals, cocktails and wine (oh and soccer too) It was just like old times.  Mary has gone so far in her career, she is now Executive  Director of Nurses at her hospital and I am so proud of her.  Her dtr is a real cutie too, like a little bird, but a heck of a soccer player.  Congraduations Mary you did a great job!! Heres to being more in touch in the future.  Love you!!!

July Vacation

These photos are from our July vacation camping at the Lake.  Someone gave us trout and I cleaned and gutted them.  Several pics of Hannah camping and then of our sailboat The Hannah Lee.  We had a great time in spite of several problems with the boat motor.  As usual the lake is beautiful and we are enjoying it immensely.  Hannah loves camping, sailing and smores!!

Summer Time

Well Folks, summer has officially arrived here in the Central Valley of California.  It was 79 degress at 9:00am and is to be over 100 x 3 days.  Of course we waited until the last minute to get the boat and the trailer ready for vacation and so I was working in 90 degree heat!!! I will have to either load at 11:00pm or get up at 6:00 am as it is just too darn hot.  Looking forward to lots of days sailing on Huntington Lake and camping.  Here are a couple of pics of the lake and no that is not us sailing as it is hard to get a pic of yourself while sailing!! This is one of the best lakes in the U.S. for sailing as it has special winds that blow up from the hot valley below.  But the temperature hardly ever gets over 87 degrees.  We will be going up for a whole week of camping and then most weekends.  Everyone have a great summer and 4th of July, remember to be safe and that this is our wonderful country's  birthday.  Happy Birthday America!!!

Hannah and her Veggie Head Angels

Our son took us to a wine tasting in Clovis, CA.  It was fun, different wineries set up in different stores downtown and you could shop and drink.  My kind of party!!! I got these little dolls at one of the antique stores.  They are just precious and Hannah calls them her little angels.  They stay at Nana's house for her to play with when she is over.  Aren't they cute?

Check out the Sistine Chapel Interactive Website

Check out the interactive website for the Sistine Chapel.  You can manipulate the screen to go up very close and it is breathtaking.   This is for those of us that may never get to go to Italy.  Although it is at the top of my list!!

Hannah and Christian Quilts

I pieced and quilted these little quilts for the kids for Easter.  I bought the panel of fairies when Hannah was just a baby keeping it until I thought she would love it which she does.  Instead of doing a regular binding I used the backing as the binding.  That means I used a backing that was larger than the quilt.  Quilted it then brought the extra around front for the binding.  For Christians I used a small piece of fabric I had that has the lighthouses on it and combined it with some left over fabric from his moses basket.  I then put their names on them.  I think they turned out cute and were very quick to finish up.  Check out the pics and don't forget you can click on the pic to make it bigger.  Happy weekend!!
